How to enable PTO to allow requests that include a start and end time

Overview

Admins can configure the PTO request tool to allow employees to specify start and end times for their PTO requests, in addition to the current date-based system.

How to enable this feature

A user with HR Admin permissions can toggle a setting that enables start and end time for PTO usage. This is done in Admin Settings > Time & attendance > PTO Requests.

By default this option is enabled only by hours.

You can select to allow requests by hours, by start and end times, or either.

When either is selected, the user can choose to enable an option to require start and end times when the total request is less than 8 hours. We default to 8 hours but you can enter another number of their choosing.

When start and end times are enabled, Employees can select a start time and end time for their PTO request.

  • Employees can select different start and end times for each day of a multi-day PTO request.
    • For weekdays we default requests to 8 hours (from 9:00am to 5:00pm)
    • For weekends we default requests to 0 hours (from 0:00 to 0:00)
  • Employees have the option to revert to full-day requests if desired.
  • The Enter hours toggle only appears when the company has set Admin settings to allow either.

Managers and admins who review PTO requests will see the start and end hours on any request that includes start and end times.
