State Withholding Income Tax Registration Steps
1. Register for a withholding tax account number
- Go to Mississippi Department of Revenue Taxpayer Access Point (TAP)
- Select Apply for Tax Account
- Select register a new taxpayer
- Select entity type, FIEN and complete remaining steps
2. Create a username and password

Once you have received your withholding tax account number, set up online access

Go back to Taxpayer Access Point (TAP)

Click on “sign up” on top corner

Select sign up for online access

Update your Eddy account with your Mississippi withholding tax account number. Your withholding tax account number is required for all MS Department of Revenue interactions to ensure your account is accurate.

Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES)
Unemployment Insurance Tax (UI) Registration Steps
1. Register for Mississippi Department of Employment Security Account Number
- Go to MDES website

Click “register here”

Under “For Reporting and Payment of Unemployment Taxes,” click on Register a New Business

Complete employer registration
2. Create a username and password

Once you have received your account number, go back to Go to MDES website

Complete employer signup and create username and password
Update your Eddy account with your Mississippi Department of Employment Security Account Number. Your account number is required for all Mississippi tax interactions to ensure your account is accurate.

3. Employers must register for email correspondence
- Click on “Employers are required to register for E-mail Correspondence”
