Multiple Pay Rate Overview

The Multiple Pay Rate feature lets you assign different hourly pay rates to employees who perform various roles within the organization. This is helpful for:

  • Restaurant: An employee who works as both a server and a bartender, with different hourly rates for each role.
  • Healthcare: A worker who serves both as a registered nurse and a shift supervisor, earning different pay rates based on their role during specific shifts.
  • Construction: A worker who operates as both a laborer and a heavy machinery operator, with higher pay for the more specialized equipment work.
  • Retail: An employee who works as both a cashier and a shift manager, receiving a higher rate when performing managerial duties.
  • Education: A teaching assistant who also tutors students after hours, earning a different pay rate for tutoring sessions versus regular classroom support.

Key Benefits

Setting up multiple pay rates helps ensure accurate and fair compensation for employees working different roles, reducing the risk of payroll errors, and maintaining compliance with labor regulations. By automating the application of various pay rates based on tasks or roles, businesses can streamline payroll processes, improve time-tracking accuracy, and reduce manual input. This feature is particularly useful in industries where employees frequently switch between roles, helping employers manage pay efficiently and transparently.

Setting Up Multiple Pay Rates

To set up multiple pay rates in Eddy, you’ll begin by navigating to the employee’s profile and clicking the Job tab. On the Compensation card add additional hourly pay rates based on roles or tasks the employee performs. Each rate is tied to a specific job function, ensuring that when employees clock in for various roles, the correct rate is applied automatically. This setup streamlines payroll and ensures accuracy, especially for employees who perform multiple functions within your organization.

To be eligible for Multiple Pay Rate, the employee must be on a time tracking policy and be an hourly employee. This feature is not available for salaried employees.

This feature seamlessly integrates with time tracking, automatically pulling the correct pay rate for each role on the timesheet. This prevents errors and ensures that payroll calculations are accurate, reducing manual effort and compliance risks.

Disabling Multiple Pay Rates

If an employee no longer requires multiple rates, you can easily disable this feature in their profile without affecting their history. Check out How to Disable Multiple Pay Rate for An Employee to read more.
